Raffle Ticket for Pink Bud by Nikki Renee Anderson
Pink Bud 2 | Clay, glaze | 5”×5”×2.5”
“I have childhood memories of venturing into the garden by myself early in the morning. I would pretend that I was in a rainforest, and go about collecting leaves, rocks, and other natural objects that became my provisions and sustenance for when the rains came. As an adult, I understand that this kind of play is a way of working through early experiences and making sense of the world. We do this as adults, too, of course, and this psychological processing now occurs through my art practice. I have come to understand gardens as places for continual growth, renewal, and transformation. My sculptures are biomorphic and fantastical forms that represent the cycles of life and the human experience.”
What opportunities at A-B Projects have been the most impactful for you and your practice?
“A-B Projects provided me with the opportunity to exhibit my artwork in a space that allowed me to explore new ideas that pushed me in a new direction. I have attended many studio sessions, which artistically opened me to many new ideas. I met many wonderful artists through the sessions and created important connections.” - Nikki Renee Anderson, A-B exhibiting artist and long time Studio Session participant
